Overview:
Hawija, located 45 km from Kirkuk, has long needed improved healthcare infrastructure. In 2013, local authorities initiated the construction of a 200-bed public hospital to address this need. The project initially progressed smoothly, reaching 82% completion by 2015. However, security concerns and the occupation of Hawija by ISIS forced the project to halt.
After Hawija was liberated by the Iraqi government, the project was revived in 2024 under a new contract with an updated budget of $32 million USD. Saqer Al-Manar Company resumed work to complete this critical healthcare facility.
Project Details:
The hospital comprises three levels:
One underground level
for essential services and utilities.
Two above-ground levels
housing all necessary medical departments.
The facility is being constructed with the highest quality materials and standards available in the market, ensuring a durable and state-of-the-art healthcare environment.
Significance:
The Hawija Public Hospital is one of the largest healthcare projects in Kirkuk. It is designed to provide comprehensive medical services to the residents of Hawija and nearby areas, addressing long-standing healthcare gaps. This project stands as a symbol of resilience and recovery, offering hope for improved public services in the region.
